WetBase Linear Drain Wetroom Shower Trays
WetBase® Linear Wet Room Trays — Linear Channel Drain Former with 83mm Shallow-Depth Drain · 20-Year Guarantee
WetBase® Linear — the complete kit
for a seamless wet room floor.
The WetBase Linear is a complete wet room floor kit, engineered and manufactured in Germany: an XPS foam core tray with the drainage fall pre-formed at the point of manufacture, a cementitious top coat ready to tile over directly, a linear channel drain available in 8 matched finishes, and a 20-year manufacturer's guarantee. Every part of the kit is designed to take complexity out of the installation, from the sub-floor up.
One standout among several: the McAlpine CD-ST90-1.5T drain outlet, manufactured by McAlpine exclusively for Wetrooms Online for use with WetBase Linear only. At just 83mm deep it's one of the shallowest wet room drain outlets available — a higher exit point, 360° rotation and a multi-angle knuckle joint create the fall needed even on shallow joists, and the trap is rated to 34 L/min (BS EN 274-2:2002).

A wet room former — also called a wetroom shower tray — is not the same as a conventional shower tray. A conventional tray sits on top of the floor in acrylic, stone resin or ceramic, and by definition creates a step or raised edge into the shower. A wet room former is recessed into the floor, tiled over flush with the surrounding surface — no step, no visible edge, no trip hazard. The WetBase Linear is a precision-engineered linear wet room former, engineered and manufactured in Germany like every tray in the WetBase range: set into the sub-floor, pre-formed drainage fall built in, cementitious top coat ready to tile over directly — the result is a level, fully tiled wet room floor with no raised threshold.
What distinguishes the WetBase Linear from the WetBase Standard is the drainage system. In place of a point drain, the Linear features a linear channel drain running across the tray — a sleek, minimal drainage line that gives a cleaner look to the finished installation. Most significantly, it's fitted with the McAlpine CD-ST90-1.5T — a drain outlet manufactured by McAlpine exclusively for Wetrooms Online, for use with WetBase Linear only. At just 83mm deep, it's one of the shallowest wet room drain outlets available: the waste exits higher up the outlet body than a conventional trap, a multi-angle knuckle joint creates further fall on demand, and the outlet rotates a full 360° so the waste pipe can be run in any direction to clear joists and other obstructions. The trap body is rated to a flow rate of 34 L/min, tested under a constant 15mm head of water in accordance with clause 5 of BS EN 274-2:2002 — and for high-power showers and rainfall shower heads, a second outlet can be added to the channel to double that capacity. The reversible channel cover adds further flexibility for tiling, allowing the orientation of the drain grating to be adapted to suit the installation.
On timber floors, underboarding is a vital installation step that must not be omitted. Without a rigid, stable sub-base, flex in the floor structure will cause stress on the former and risk long-term damage to the installation. The drain body must also be independently supported to prevent it dropping as the waste pipe settles — this is a critical detail on all tray types fitted to timber sub-floors and should be addressed during the rough-in stage before the former is set.
