About WetBase® Shower Trays

WetBase® low-profile shower trays are designed to create a flat, level-access shower area without raised steps or platforms. Each tray is pre-machined with the correct drainage falls in all directions to the drain outlet, so no on-site screeding is required.

WetBase® trays are suitable for installation in both timber and concrete floors and are then tiled over. The tray must not be tiled over vinyl or any flexible floor covering.

Timber Floor Installation Note

The tray requires full under-support. On timber floors, 18mm marine ply panels are fitted between the joists to create an even, solid base. The tray cannot be installed directly onto joists.

Conventional floorboards are approximately 20mm thick, which brings the top of the tray level with the surrounding floor. We recommend covering the entire surrounding floor with 10mm thermal tile backer board before tiling — this raises the surrounding floor by 10mm, so a 10mm packer under the tray may be needed to achieve a perfectly level floor throughout. Tile backer board is an excellent insulator and the ideal surface to tile onto.

Full step-by-step instructions for both timber and concrete floor installations are included in the PDF downloads above.
