20-year guarantee
Manufacturer's warranty on every tray when installed to the supplied specification.

The WetBase® Standard is manufactured with a cementitious top coat, giving a non-porous, tile-ready surface. The pre-formed fall means no screeding on site. Each kit is supplied complete with a Dallmer fast-flow square drain and stainless steel grill (140 x 140mm grate, 82mm depth). A Mapei tanking kit to seal all floor and wall joints is required but not included as standard — available as an optional add-on at checkout.

The drain outlet is factory-set at the point of manufacture in the chosen position and connects to a standard 1½ inch ABS solvent weld waste pipe. With six drain positions across 15 sizes, the WetBase® Standard can be configured to suit virtually any floor layout. The tray can be trimmed on site by up to 50mm per side — equal amounts from opposite sides — to achieve a precise fit.

On timber floors, the tray is supported on 18mm marine ply between the joists. The surrounding floor is raised with 10mm insulation board before a solvent free sealant is applied around the tray perimeter, followed by full tanking of the shower area and walls. On concrete floors, sufficient concrete is removed to accommodate the tray and drain, and the tray is bedded to sit flush with the surrounding finished floor.

Timber floor note: The WetBase® Standard tray is 20mm thick — approximately the same depth as standard floorboards. After installation, the surrounding floor needs to be raised by approximately 10mm using insulation board or marine ply before tanking and tiling. A 10mm packer under the tray may be needed to maintain a flush floor level. Do not tile directly onto floorboards.

Product & Specification
What is the WetBase® Standard?
The WetBase® Standard is a pre-formed wet room floor former with a square point drain. Designed and manufactured in Germany, it features an inbuilt drainage fall to the drain outlet, so no on-site screeding is required. The cementitious top coat is non-porous and ready to tile over directly without primer. It is suitable for tiled floor finishes only.
What is the difference between WetBase® Standard and WetBase® Linear?
WetBase® Standard uses a square point drain with a fixed position chosen at the time of ordering. WetBase® Linear features a linear channel drain running across the tray, with an installer-positioned outlet that can be drilled at any point along the channel during installation. Both trays feature a pre-formed drainage fall and a cementitious top coat ready for tiling. WetBase® Standard is 20mm thick; WetBase® Linear is 30mm thick.
What sizes are available?
WetBase® Standard is available in 15 sizes: 800 x 800mm, 900 x 900mm, 1000 x 1000mm, 1200 x 760mm, 1200 x 800mm, 1200 x 900mm, 1200 x 1000mm, 1200 x 1200mm, 1300 x 800mm, 1400 x 900mm, 1500 x 800mm, 1500 x 900mm, 1500 x 1500mm, 1800 x 800mm, and 1800 x 900mm. Each tray can be trimmed on site by up to 50mm per side. Visit wetrooms-online.com/collections/wetbase-standard-wet-room-kits or call 0800 280 8008 for sizing advice.
What drain cover options are available?
Two drain cover types are available. The standard cover is supplied with each kit in a stainless steel finish. An upgrade to the Octad cover is available, which comes in Brushed Stainless Steel or seven colour-matched finishes: Matt Black, Rose Gold, Satin Gold, Satin Copper, Satin Bronze, Satin Nickel, and Satin Brass. The Octad upgrade can be selected when ordering.
Is the former pre-formed or do I need to screed?
The WetBase® Standard has a pre-formed drainage fall built in at the point of manufacture - no on-site screeding is required. The cementitious top coat is non-porous, so the surface is ready to tile over directly without the need for a primer or additional preparation.
Does the kit include the drain?
Yes. Each WetBase® Standard kit is supplied complete with a Dallmer fast-flow drain and stainless steel grill. The Dallmer drain grate measures 140 x 140mm and the drain extends 82mm below the base. A tanking kit is required but not included as standard - available as an optional add-on when ordering.
Does the WetBase® Standard need to cover the whole bathroom floor?
No. The WetBase® Standard only needs to cover the shower area itself. There is no requirement to install the tray across the whole bathroom floor.
The Drain
What type of drain does the WetBase® Standard use?
The WetBase® Standard uses a Dallmer fast-flow square drain with a 140 x 140mm grate. The drain sits 82mm below the base and connects to a standard 1½ inch (43mm) ABS solvent weld waste pipe. The drain position is fixed at manufacture and determined by the product variant selected at the time of ordering.
What drain positions are available?
Six drain positions are available across the WetBase® Standard range: Centre, Offset, Centre Offset, Corner, Left Corner, and Right Corner. Not every position is available in every size - refer to the product listing for your chosen size to confirm available positions. The plan diagrams in each product description show the exact drain location. Call 0800 280 8008 if you need help choosing the right position.
What is the difference between Centre and Offset drain positions?
With a Centre drain, the drain aperture is located midway between both the long and short edges of the tray. With an Offset drain, the aperture sits at the centre of the short edge but 450mm from one end. Corner, Left Corner, and Right Corner variants position the drain at or near a corner of the tray. The choice is typically driven by the need to avoid floor joists or to position the drain directly below the shower head.
Can I change the drain position after purchase?
No. The drain position is fixed at the point of manufacture. If you require a different position, select the appropriate product variant before ordering. Call 0800 280 8008 if you need help choosing the right drain position for your project.
Installation
What sub-floors is the WetBase® Standard suitable for?
The WetBase® Standard is suitable for installation on both timber and concrete sub-floors. It is not suitable for installation directly onto joists - the tray must be fully supported underneath in all cases. It is not suitable for vinyl floor coverings.
Does the WetBase® Standard need support underneath?
Yes. The tray must be fully supported underneath before installation to prevent flexing, which can cause tile grout to crack over time. On timber floors, 18mm marine ply panels are fitted between the joists. On concrete floors, no additional sub-support is required when the tray is set into the concrete.
How do I install the WetBase® Standard on a timber floor?
The floorboards are removed from the tray area. 50mm x 25mm timber runners are screwed 18mm down from the top of each joist to carry 18mm marine ply panels, which are fitted between the joists to create a fully supported base. A ply platform is also fitted approximately 85mm below joist tops to support the drain. The waste pipe is connected using 1½ inch ABS solvent weld. The tray is bedded on flexible tile adhesive and levelled. The surrounding floor is overlaid with 10mm insulation board, and a 10mm packer may be needed under the tray to keep it flush. A solvent free sealant is applied around the entire tray perimeter, then all joints are fully tanked before tiling.
How do I install the WetBase® Standard on a concrete floor?
Sufficient concrete is removed from the tray area. For the drain and waste pipe, concrete is removed to a depth of approximately 85mm below the underside of the tray, with a channel cut for the waste pipe. Damp proofing is advisable where concrete has been removed. The tray is bedded on flexible adhesive and levelled. The surrounding concrete floor is overlaid with tile backer board, and the tray height is adjusted to sit level with the finished surrounding floor. All joints are fully tanked before tiling.
Do I need to waterproof the shower area?
Yes. The WetBase® Standard tray itself is waterproof, but all joints to the surrounding floor and walls must be tanked. A solvent free sealant is applied around the entire tray perimeter first. The tanking process involves applying primer, followed by rubberised jointing tape on all horizontal and vertical joints, then two coats of tanking paint. The full showering area and at least 300mm beyond should be waterproofed; walls should also be tanked before tiling. A Mapei tanking kit is available as an optional add-on when ordering.
Can I tile straight onto the WetBase® Standard?
Yes. The cementitious top coat is non-porous and ready to tile over directly - no primer is required. Mosaic tiles are recommended as their flexible backing allows them to follow the contours of the tray. Large-format tiles can be used but will need to be cut with an envelope cut to maintain the fall to the drain.
Is the WetBase® Standard compatible with underfloor heating?
Yes, the WetBase® Standard is compatible with underfloor heating systems.
Can the WetBase® Standard be cut to size?
Yes. The tray can be trimmed by up to 50mm per side using a handsaw. Equal amounts must be removed from each pair of opposing sides - for example, to reduce a dimension by 50mm in total, remove 25mm from each opposing side rather than 50mm from one side alone. This keeps the drain correctly positioned within the tray.
Can the WetBase® Standard be used for showering in a wheelchair?
No. The WetBase® Standard is not designed for point loading and cannot be used with a wheelchair. Call 0800 280 8008 and our team can advise on suitable alternative products.
Do I need a professional installer?
Wet room installation involves cutting into the floor structure, connecting waste pipework, and applying tanking to waterproof the shower area - work that is typically carried out by a qualified wet room or bathroom installer, or a highly competent DIY'er.
After Installation
What is the guarantee on the WetBase® Standard?
The WetBase® Standard carries a 20-year manufacturer's guarantee. The guarantee applies when the tray has been installed correctly and in accordance with the supplied fitting instructions.
Does cutting the tray to size affect the guarantee?
Cutting the tray within the permitted limits - up to 50mm per side, with equal amounts taken from opposing sides - does not void the guarantee, provided the tray is installed in full accordance with the fitting instructions. Cutting beyond these limits may affect the guarantee.
Ordering
How do I choose the right size WetBase® Standard?
Measure the planned shower area and select the nearest available size. The tray can be trimmed by up to 50mm per side on site if needed. Consider the drain position based on your floor structure and waste pipe location. Call 0800 280 8008 if you need guidance.
Can I order a custom size?
WetBase® Standard is not available in custom sizes. The range covers 15 standard sizes from 800 x 800mm to 1800 x 900mm, and each tray can be trimmed on site by up to 50mm per side to achieve a closer fit where required.
How quickly will my order arrive?
