🛡20-Year Guarantee on WetBase™ Trays
Wetrooms Online has specified and supplied wet room systems since 2008. Our own WetBase™ range of wet room trays — Standard, Linear and ONE — is designed and manufactured to a 20-year guarantee, and we're also a certified wedi supplier, stocking BBA-certified wedi building boards and Fundo shower elements. We work with both trade installers and homeowners to help choose the right tray, drainage, waterproofing and finish for every project. The ideas below are illustrative design directions — for guidance specific to your bathroom, floor structure or accessibility needs, call our team on 0800 280 8008 or see our Wet Room FAQs.
Before You Start: Key Design Considerations
🎨
Choose a Design Style
Settling on a style direction first — contemporary, traditional, minimalist, coastal, industrial — makes every other decision easier, from tile format to fitting finish. Look at current trends and note what works in your existing home before choosing anything.
📏
Check Room Size & Access
As a general guide, allow at least 15 square feet for a shower area, toilet and basin combined, with a minimum access width of 600mm into the shower enclosure. Sloped ceilings, door thresholds and floor level all affect what's achievable.
📐
Plan the Layout
A scaled plan showing existing plumbing, drainage and window/door positions helps avoid costly changes later. Alcove or boxed-in areas can often be used efficiently rather than built around.
🏠
Select Material & Finish
Tile, vinyl and microcement each suit different styles and needs — vinyl is generally the better choice for wheelchair or point-loading use. Enclosure glass and fitting finishes (chrome, matt black, brushed) should tie back to your chosen style.

Design Ideas
Contemporary wet room design idea with white hexagon mosaic tiling, round mirror and matt black shower fittings
Design Inspiration

Contemporary Square Drain

A clean, minimalist look built around large-format tiling and a walk-in glass screen. A square-drain former such as WetBase™ Standard or WetBase™ ONE Infinity suits this style well — the single-fall design on WetBase™ ONE avoids diagonal cuts on large tiles.

Loft conversion wet room design idea with concrete-effect tiling, rainfall shower head and a visible linear drain
Design Inspiration

Loft Conversion, Linear Drain

Concrete-effect tiling and a full-width linear drain suit loft or attic conversions particularly well, where a low-profile former is often needed under restricted ceiling heights. WetBase™ Linear lets the installer position the outlet to suit the joist layout — ideal on timber sub-floors.

Accessible wet room design idea with level-access shower, grab rail, fold-down wooden seat and mosaic tiling
Design Inspiration

Accessible & Level-Access

A genuinely level-access shower area with a non-slip vinyl finish, wide clear space and grab rail provision. For wheelchair or point-loading use, Contour ShowerDec, AKW Tuff Form and Impey Level Dec are all rated for this application — see our accessible wet rooms guide for full specification advice.

Wet room design idea with travertine stone tiling, double vessel basins and a glass walk-in shower
Design Inspiration

Natural Stone & Double Vanity

A warm travertine-effect finish across floor and walls gives a natural, spa-like feel, paired here with a double vessel basin vanity. The wet room area sits within the same stone finish for a seamless look — achievable with large-format porcelain tiling over any WetBase™ former.

Wet room design idea combining a freestanding oval bath with an open shower area, sage green wall and cream tiling
Design Inspiration

Freestanding Bath & Wet Room

Combining a freestanding bath with an open wet room shower area works well in larger bathrooms, giving a calm, boutique-hotel feel. A single accent wall colour, as shown here, helps zone the bathing area from the shower without any physical division. The wet room area is fully tanked and waterproofed independently of the bath installation.

Bright loft wet room design idea with marble-effect tiling, freestanding bath and walk-in shower, suited to underfloor heating
Design Inspiration

Bright Loft Bathroom

A light, marble-effect finish makes the most of natural light from roof windows, with a walk-in shower area and freestanding bath sharing the same space. Large-format porcelain tiling like this works well over Warmup underfloor heating, keeping the whole floor comfortable underfoot.
