Tanking Kits for AKW Wet Room Trays- Tiled Floor Finish

Optional Tanking for Tiled Floor Finish:

If installing the AKW Tuff Form wet room former with a tiled floor the tray and joints to the surround of the tray will need to be tanked (waterproofed) prior to the laying of tiles. Two tanking options exist for this:

Jackoboard Paint-On Tanking Kit:

The Jackoboard tanking kit contains a rapid drying, brush/roller applied, single part flexible liquid membrane for use on rigid surfaces in bathrooms, wet rooms and showers. It can also be used to waterproof existing surfaces such as plaster, plasterboard or timber.

Suitable for all flat or vertical surfaces made of any material. Simple to use for novices and experts alike.
Compatible with almost every type of under floor heating and ready for tiling with no further preparation (please check with under floor heating manufacturer).

For use under ceramic coverings in wet rooms, showers and bathrooms. Coverage 5 - 6sqm under normal conditions with recommended two coats.

Jackoboard Paint-On tanking kit contents:
4kg (2.5 litre) Tanking solution
1 litre primer for timber/plasterboard
10m sealing tape
2 x internal corners seals

AKW FormSafe Tanking Membrane Kit:

FormSafe is probably one of the best tanking membranes available for use in wetroom applications as it provides a thick industrial strength impermeable barrier to any water that may escape beneath the tiles. The membrane is self-adhesive and comes on a roll. Once installed tiles can be applied immediately - there is no curing time.

Although particularly suited to floor applications FormSafe can also be applied to walls as an additional precaution. However, there is a maximum weight limit for wall mounted tiles when using FormSafe and this should not exceed 20kg/m2.

FormSafe can be used with under floor heating. Note: Maximum effective temperature for FormSafe is 32oC and should not be exceeded. Electrical heating max 150w.

AKW offer 2 different kit sizes for FormSafe, 5m2 and 10m2.
