The Impey Level Dec is a shower tray former designed specifically for wet rooms finished in vinyl or Altro safety flooring, rather than tiles. It is a common specification choice for wheelchair-accessible and shower-stool installations, where the tray is rated to support over 300kg (47 stone) of point loading — the concentrated weight that comes through a wheelchair castor or the legs of a shower stool.
Constructed from 22mm compression-moulded SMC, the tray is low profile and installs direct to timber joists at standard centres up to 400mm, without the plywood under-boarding that some wet room formers require. This keeps the build-up shallow and speeds up installation, particularly on refurbishment projects where floor height is limited. It can also be bedded directly into concrete screed — the underside of the base is designed to help avoid slippage in the wet screed when bedding down, creating a more solid fixing.
A patent-protected feature allows the installer to rotate the drain aperture to any position that avoids a joist or other under-floor obstruction. It is the aperture position that rotates, not the gully itself — this solves one of the most common installation headaches on timber floors, where the ideal drain location often clashes with a joist run.
The vinyl sheet itself forms the primary waterproof barrier across the floor area, so the tray does not require a separate tanking kit. The surrounding walls will still need tanking to the correct height in the usual way — see our wall tanking & waterproofing range.
The tray is trimmable on site to fit awkward room shapes, boxing-in, or nib walls, without needing a cutting disc. Available in 11 sizes across the range, all supplied complete with the standard drain.
Every Impey Level Dec is supplied with the UTVG01/H vinyl floor gully as standard — a high-quality water trap with a 50mm water seal and flexible 43mm outlet. A patent-protected feature lets the installer rotate the drain aperture position to avoid a joist or other under-floor obstruction.
A chrome grille and drain (UTVC01/H) is available as an optional upgrade to the standard grey cover. Other drain outlets are also available — call 0800 280 8008 to discuss options.
Specify your preferred outlet finish on ordering. Colours are intended as a guide only — on-screen colours may vary from the physical product.
