Wet Room Basics
The key to any successful wet room or walk-in shower lies with the wet room floor. The floor must be robust enough to last for many years without leaking, and it must have a sufficient fall to allow water from the shower to drain away quickly without pooling.
The most reliable way to achieve the correct fall is with a tray that has a built-in fall to the drain, fitted into the floor and sitting on the joists, with under-boarding for support where required. These trays are typically supplied as a kit with a drain and tanking (waterproofing) kit, so the wet room can be installed by a competent DIY'er or trade fitter.

Vinyl Flooring & Wheelchair Showering
For wet rooms finished with vinyl flooring, or for households needing a wheelchair-accessible shower, we stock a specialist range including the Contour ShowerDec, Impey Level Dec and AKW Tuff Form. All of these trays are designed to accept vinyl flooring (or can be finished with tiles) and are built to support showering in a wheelchair, with weight ratings of up to 100 stone depending on the specific tray and model — please check the individual product specification for the exact rating that applies. Unlike the WetBase®, the ShowerDec, Level Dec and Tuff Form do not require under-boarding for additional support and can be fitted directly onto the floor joists.
